Building on his unprecedented career in healthcare, Mark Heller launched his consulting practice in 2011. He has helped leading business and healthcare organizations, across North America, achieve their financial, quality and transformation objectives through his creative and strategic insights, engaging customer collaborations and ability to instill passion for professional excellence. Mark is a sought-after presenter and subject-matter expert on clinical environmental hygiene for leading businesses, healthcare organizations and professional associations, across North America.

Having overseen environmental hygiene programs in over 570 healthcare organizations, Mark is one of the healthcare industry’s foremost environmental services operations executives.  He has recruited, trained and mentored 100’s of healthcare environmental and support services leaders.

As Vice President – Environmental Services for Alberta Health Services, Mark led the integration and transformation to a province-wide enterprise, becoming North America’s largest publicly-operated Environmental Services portfolio. Together with 5,000 service associates, Mark’s team provided hygiene services in clinical and non-clinical environments, patient transport and waste management services at over 1,000 locations, including 160 acute care hospitals.

As national facility services program leader for ARAMARK Healthcare, Mark and his team created and executed programs and services that propelled ARAMARK to one of industry’s leading healthcare support services providers. Mark led a number of industry-first initiatives, including the largest transition of healthcare environmental services operations in North America.

Mark has a post-secondary education in hotel management, a university certificate in project management and has recently completed his graduate degree in business administration (MBA), specializing in B2B marketing, at Queens University.

Mark specializes in clinical environmental hygiene - infection prevention and people-centric transformational change. He is member of the following professional organizations:

In June 2013 Mark was appointed national chair of the “Environmental Hygiene Interest Group” for CHICA – Canada (APIC equivalent – Canada). This group is responsible for ensuring infection prevention professionals have the knowledge and tools to support environmental hygiene programs in their healthcare facilities.

In 2013 Mark led the review of the environmental hygiene curriculum (on behalf of CHICA – Canada) for the Infection Prevention & Control Program, of Accreditation Canada International.
